2025 Agenda In Progress
Qrp will be returning to the good old days. There will be 6 qrp speakers during the day on Saturday. Pacificon 40 kits, a Pacificon exclusive, will be available Friday morning. The Pacificon 40 is an updated version of the Norcal 40, the rig that started it all for the Norcal Qrp Club. It will feature a keyer, digital display, BS170 class E finals that puts out a full 5 Watts, Si5351 powered vfo and a brand new modern layout. Most of the parts are premounted and the rig takes about 2 hours to build.
Friday night will start with a short walk and a no host dinner at Panera, followed by the qrp auction featuring all 12 of the CalQrp kits done this year. Then we will have show and tell featuring our projects we have built this year.
Saturday night: operating event using the Pacificon 40 rigs that we have built.
But most of all we will have laughter and fun.
2024 Agenda
Friday all day. Catch Doug and pick up your EZ-WSPR transmitter kit and start building it.
There is a kit building area with all the tools you will need, but I'm not sure when it opens. You may have to supply your own tools. The cost is $10. It's way below the normal cost, but QRPGUYS.com is happy to subsidize this event. Please don't buy a kit unless you plan on building it and participating in the contest.
Friday 4:00 pm. Meet in the lobby and then we will go to Panera nearby for no host dinner. This banquet set up by Dr. Legacy clear who has come out of retirement to be our Pacificon Qrp Banquet Chairman. We will leave the hotel at 4:15. No host event.
Friday 7:00 pm. Building event in the Pleasanton/Danville room. Bring your EZ wspr kit and finish building it. Then, we will test each entry by having it transmit for 2 minutes. We will supply raspberry pi and antenna. The winner will be whoever makes the furthest distance.
Friday 8:00 pm. Qrp auction. Maximum items 3. No minimum allowed, every thing must sell.
Saturday 2:00 pm. Portable Pota/Sota station set up on lawn area. Come see how to make a Pota/Sota contact and make your first Pota/Sota contact with Mt. Hamilton. CW and ssb modes.
Saturday 7:00 pm. HOTA qso party in the Pleasanton/Danville room. Bring your own gear. We supply antenna and attenuators if needed. All transmitters limited to 1/2 Watt output to antenna either by setting power to 1/2W or using attenuator.
